Jodi Dunphy changed my paradigm, my life and my future; she “fixed” me.
To someone, that statement may be interpreted as an “over-statement”, I am here to tell you - it is not an overstatement. I had seen 2-3 therapists (over 15 months) and a psychiatrist (for 6 months) due to an event in my life that re-traumatized me to my mother’s suicide death when I was the age of 9. After being encouraged to try EMDR with Jodi by a friend & trauma therapist,
I committed to working with Jodi.
From the minute I filled out the pre-visit Multi-Modal Self-Evaluation, I knew I was working with
a therapist, who for the first time, had an intellectual and more scientific approach to my treatment. The Multi-Modal questionnaire is one of the first couple of steps to a multi-step EMDR process. When I walked into Jodi’s office for the beginning of a 2 1/2 day intensive therapy treatment plan, I knew she knew me and had read all of the background paperwork. Jodi’s
first comment to me was, I know you have a lot to discuss, but I sense you have never mourned your mother’s death... in 47 years, I hadn’t thought about that..and she was right. During my 2 1/2 days, we used various EMDR techniques that all proved to be hard work- but successful. I can honestly say Jodi “reprogrammed” my brain. I left feeling the most calm and centered I have ever felt. I finally felt strong enough to deal with what I had to deal with. Jodi is a brilliant therapist,
a kind, intuitive and extremely intelligent woman. I have never had someone so accurately access or describe situations or people as intelligently as Jodi. Jodi’s Christianity and knowledge and belief in God and the Bible were completely in sync with me, although I know Jodi could work with anyone of any faith or lack of faith.
If you or someone you know needs help emotionally, I could not more whole-heartedly recommend Jodi Dunphy- it will change their lives, for the good- forever.
"I was diagnosed with complicated grief and PTSD shortly after my son died by suicide. There are no words to explain the depth of my guilt, shame and grief. I didn’t understand what caused the PTSD and I couldn’t control it. My life was unbearable and completely out of control. The counselor I had been seeing for a year was only compounding the trauma. I was about to give up by the time I came to see Jodi. I knew instantly that she was different. She listened, she guided me and explained how EMDR would allow me to process the intense trauma and grief. Jodi offered to do a counseling intensive. This was such a blessing because I was able to accomplish more in those hours than I had in the previous 18 months of counseling. Jodi did more than help me process the immediate trauma. She helped me address early childhood traumas that have affected me for most of my life. Jodi gave me tools and taught me how to recognize triggers and panic attacks before they were out of control. Jodi provides a safe environment to expose your deepest fears. She’s compassionate and experienced in dealing with grief. She saved my life."
"EMDR has given me a peace and strength I didn’t know I was missing. Treatment isn’t scary and doesn’t ask you to process anything more than what you’re ready for. I was amazed at how my body remembered and stored my memories. EMDR gently helped me to identify and heal some damaging core beliefs I had been carrying around since childhood. I can now, without discomfort or triggering, discuss trauma that I couldn’t speak of for 11 years. It has given me not only peace, but important tools for dealing with future life stressors. I will continue to recommend it to anyone who has suffered trauma, no matter the severity."
“My EMDR experience with Jodi was simple and effective. I found that my perspective of past wounds has been transformed to give me a new freedom. As a skilled professional, Jodi has made an outstanding influence on my life! I recommend EMDR therapy with Jodi in multiple-hour sessions. This helped me go deeper and keep momentum going.”
